Alex Candelaria
Alex is an accomplished teacher and performer with decades of teaching experience. He is fluent in Rock, Pop, Jazz, R&B, Latin and Blues. He has taught at Noe Valley Music and Community Music Center of San Francisco for 10 years. He is excited to share his knowledge and expertise with students of all ages and skill levels.
Alex has performed with: Hal Stein, Eddie Marshall, Nacha Mendez, and Kenny Wollesen at numerous venues in the Bay Area and nationally including San Jose Jazz Festival, Great American Music Hall and Jazz at Pearls’, along with numerous rock, pop and blues gigs in the Bay Area, NYC and Europe.
He has performed with his own group at many venues including the Kuumbwa Jazz Center, Bruno’s, and the Humboldt Jazz Society and has made two recordings under his own name. His CD “Yeahway” was played on over 30 jazz stations in the US and was KSDS “disc of the day” in 2006.
Alex studied Music at UC Santa Cruz with Randy Masters. He has additionally studied with Kevin Eubanks and Dave Holland at the Banff Jazz Workshop.
