Session III: David Bowie - February 22-April 25, 2010

It's time to put on your red shoes and dance the blues, because starting Monday, February 22, we're taking on Mr. Ziggy Stardust in all his glam-rock glory.

Although perhaps best known for his wildly inventive stage characters and costumes, Bowie is widely regarded as an innovator who has influenced subsequent generations of musicians -- from Iggy Pop and the New York Dolls to Nine Inch Nails, Morrissey and The Cure -- during his five decades in popular music. From glam to plastic soul to dance-pop and beyond, Bowie has consistently invented, reinvented and synthesized musical styles along with his image.

Known for his distinctive voice and the intellectual depth of his work, Bowie offers a complex and interesting body of work for us to explore in this first session of the new year.
