Drums for sale - SOLD

One of our students has a drum kit for sale. It's a 7-piece set bought from Haight Asbury Music center. It is a junior professional set, made very well. The brand is Percussion Plus. The drum heads need to be replaced. Please inquire through Bird for the price and any other details.

Working with film students from UC Berkeley, we'll create our own music videos inspired by famous videos from the past and present as we play music, act, dance, direct, edit and have a lot of fun. That's right, it's time to put on your red shoes and dance the blues, because starting Monday, February 22nd, we're taking on Mr. Ziggy Stardust in all his glam-rock glory. Although perhaps best known for his wildly inventive stage characters and costumes, Bowie is widely regarded as an innovator who has influenced subsequent generations of musicians (from Iggy Pop and the New York Dolls to Nine Inch Nails, Morrissey and The Cure) during his five decades in popular music, and is known for his distinctive voice and the intellectual depth of his work. Audition now for next ACT project

We're pleased to announce that Bird is working on our fourth collaboration with The American Conservatory Theater's Young Conservatory program. This year's spring original musical production will be "I Don't Know What It Is: The Music of Rufus Wainwright." We're looking for a group of student musicians (ages 14-18) that goes beyond guitar/bass/percussion to include horns and other instruments, too.

Auditions are going on now at Bird through March 5, 2010, and the show will open May 14th at the Zeum Theater for a 2-week run.

Introducing Night Bird

We've got a new program for serious bands ages 13-18: Night Bird. In a 7-week session, you'll do weekly recordings and learn promotion (including finding gig opportunities and making flyer/CD art) from pros as you work towards putting on a showcase-style show for a 30-50 member audience. Bird's Monday night band is auditioning adults students for the Bi-monthly Jam session. This beginning/intermediate band stretches out and explores songs/music and rhythms from all over the the globe.

Saturday, May 16 from Noon-3pm Bird will be participating in the 2009 Polk Street Merchant's Fair. We'll be having a sidewalk music sale (bring your old records/tshirts/memorabilia/etc.), a bench concert (we're looking for interested students to jam on the curb), and a BBQ, among other things. We want to open up the studio for the students and their families to share what we do and hopefully bring in some interested neighbors.
