Hi Parents and Friends of Bird,
Here's a quick line-up of what to expect at Bird when you return from vacation.
Dance Clinics
Four wonderful and eclectically trained dance instructors are on board to launch our dance
program. Our first two clinics were great —- the next two happen on:
January 20 with Kalliope Kalombratsos
Kalliope is originally from Athens, Greece. For the past 15 years, she has lived in
San Francisco studying, teaching and performing contemporary dance. A graduate of San
Francisco's School of the Arts and San Francisco State University, she currently teaches
Modern Rhythms as part of the Rhythm and Motion Dance workout program at ODC Dance Commons.
As a performer, she has performed with Paco Gomes, Austin Forbord, Patricia Jiron, Catherine
Davalos and Biba Bell.
Kalliope's classes emphasize contemporary movement vocabulary as a fundamental basis for strength,
technical focus and spatial variation. In addition, using simple and creative exercises to
further explore other realms of contemporary dance, and understanding of choreography.
And January 27 with Ashley Holladay
Ashley has danced professionally with The Mark Morris Dance Company, Steeldance Company and
various other artists in New York City. She is inspired by teachers from the Anusara, Ashtanga,
Iyengar and Jivamukti Yoga traditions, and the OM Yoga Center, NYC in particular. Ashley
currently teaches yoga and dance all over the Bay Area.
Ashley's classes focus on the union of body and mind via the breath. Through alignment instruction and
individual attention all parts of the body are strengthened and freed, enabling the mind to exist
in its freest form. Likewise, the mind is strengthened and challenged enabling the body to exist
in its most expansive state.
Enjoy your time off (we know we will) and have a very, very happy holiday!
Best from all of us at Bird,
Lane, Peter, Dave, Chrissy and Laurie

Winter Break: Our doors will be closed from 12/15-1/7. Enjoy your holidays and keep practicing!
Session II Band rehearsals and private lessons resume on Monday, January 8, 2007.
We'll have three weeks plus Tech Week (2/5-2/9) to get ready for the end-of-session concert on
February 11. Our theme for this session is Sun Studios Memphis, the Birthplace of Rock 'n' Roll.
Yoga: We're opening up our private practice to friends and community. For the last 2 years
we've been privileged to receive the instruction from some of San Francisco's best yoga teachers
in the gallery at Bird. What has been created is a program that incorporates all the good things into
one compact hour of music and movement.
We now offer yoga four days a week. Join us Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8:30am
and Thursdays at noon. $12 per class, $105 per 10-card. We'll start this up again on
January 5.
Coming soon, Musicians' Yoga, Fridays at 10:00am.
