show. Concert date for Session I is November 16, 2008.
Session Rehearsals on The Main Stage
For your upcoming concert, you and your band can rehearse on The Main Stage weekly. Enjoy big sound and live
performance vibe every week as you prepare for the big show.
Concert date for Session I is November 16, 2008.
"Set List" Session Rehearsals
Veterans and other qualified students rehearse weekly with your band for 90 minutes.
Program length, 11 weeks. Many of you have been with us forever and have learned not only
how to nail a song in a finite period of time but also to present that accomplishment with
confidence and poise at the big performance. You have the chops to find and master new
material or even create original work with an eye, an ear and a mind toward performing
a full set of music. Set List for advanced students will focus on preparing to perform
a minimum of 3 songs on a shared bill at Bird with several other bands for a concert on December 14, 2008.
You will also be invited to perform your "theme" song at the Valueact Pavilion Session I Concert on November 16, 2008.
Set students will have an opportunity at the end of the rehearsal period to record an EP of their set.
Set List Recording
7:15-9:00pm
You have already rehearsed and performed as a band, and we've put aside a schedule for you to
take it to the next level. On the heels of your performance, record an EP of your set. Students
will gain a hands-on understanding of digital recording technology while creating their own high-quality
recording. Every player will benefit from this skill and walk away with something tangible - music that
he or she made, and can share with friends. Must have completed "Set List."
Songwriting
Saturdays 11:30AM-1:00PM
Learn the ins and outs of great songwriting from a professional
singer-songwriter. Topics covered will include inspiration, lyrics,
composition, notation and copyright-protecting your work. You'll
come away from the class with at least one finished
composition.
